Intro
Bizet's heroine is a real femme fatale. Carmen is a predatory female in the purest sense: she flirts with Don José, seduces him and breaks his heart by chatting up a toreador. Emotions run high in the provincial town. Jealously, feelings of revenge and a want for freedom determine the atmosphere. With hits such as Habanera and Les Toréadors, Bizet's Carmen is currently one of the most popular operas. At the première in 1875 the audience was shocked and stayed away. Now, Carmen is a global box-office hit and therefore a fitting close to the opera season.

Team
Passion is guaranteed with Carmen, especially with Viktoria Vizin, the Hungarian mezzo-soprano who already played the part of Carmen very successfully in the prestigious Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Royal Opera Covent Garden in London. Her opponent is tenor Roberto Saccà, a much sought-after soloist of Verdi and Mozart's repertoire. Director Daniel Kramer is sometimes called the new enfant terrible of the London theatre and opera scene. He will undoubtedly give us a challenging take on this classic.
