Born in Montevideo (Uruguay) in 1976, Dario Solari started his studies at the National School and then travelled to Italy for specialising under the guidance of Paolo Washington. He took part in several competitions and he won the prize "Best Young Singer" at the "Ferruccio Tagliavini" Competition in Deutchlandsberg, the "Tito Schipa" International Competition in Lecce and the "Iris Adami Corradetti" International Competition in Padova.
He began his career singing in several concerts and, since 2001, in such operas as Puccini’s La rondine and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. These were followed by his successful interpretations of Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Il Conte Robinson in Il matrimonio segreto at the Teatro Regio in Turin, Silvio in I Pagliacci, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly and Cloteau in Respighi’s Marie Victoire, under the baton of Gianluigi Gelmetti at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
At the Opéra de Montecarlo he was invited to sing in Il barbiere di Siviglia (2001), Il matrimonio segreto (2002), Don Carlos, I Puritani, Don Pasquale (2003) and Madama Butterfly.
In the 2004/2005 season he was invited at the Teatro Comunale di Firenze to sing in Don Carlo (Rodrigo), at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari for Manon Lescaut (Lescaut) and at the Martina Franca Festival for singing in Marchetti’s Romeo e Giulietta (Paride). Engagements in the role of Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) at Deutsche Oper Berlin and a tour to Catanzaro, Cosenza and Reggio Calabria, have followed.
In 2006 season he sang Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda (Lord Guglielmo Cecil) and Alfano’s La leggenda di Sakùntala (Lo scudiero) at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Don Carlo (Rodrigo) at the Athens Concert Hall, La Traviata (Giorgio Germont) at the Teatro Solìs in Montevideo, Carmen (Escamillo) at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi and in Fermo. He also portrayed the role of Escamillo in Carmen at the Landestheater Salzsburg. In april 2007 he sang with success La Traviata (Giorgio Germont) at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and in May 2007 he appeared in Un ballo in maschera (Renato) in Cagliari. He sang Il Trovatore (Il Conte di Luna) at the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff and Don Carlo (Rodrigo) under the baton of Zubin Mehta with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv. He recently performed La Traviata (Giorgio Gérmont) at the Palm Beach Opera, Carmen (Escamillo) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Arena di Verona; always for the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino he sang Haydn’s Missa in tempore belli. At the Teatro Municipal in Santiago del Chile he just sang the role of Renato in Un Ballo in maschera.
Forthcoming performances include La Dama di Picche and La Traviata at the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff, La Bohème (Marcello) at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Don Carlo (Rodrigo) at the Vlaamse Opera in Atwerpen. He will be back in Tel Aviv for Il Trovatore conducted by Zubin Mehta and at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago del Chile for I pagliacci (Silvio). He will be in London for a recording of La Parisina with Opera Rara.
