Intro
In “Flight”, the young British composer Jonathan Dove, sets up a
confrontation between a collection of the most diverse human beings,
while they are obliged to stay overnight at an airport, due to a severe
storm. What follows is a rarely strange night in a place that,
according to the composer, symbolizes great expectations and intense
feelings.
In this whirlwind of happenings, a refugee, in possession of a ‘magical stone’, turns out to be the central figure.
Jonathan
Dove’s music, with its streamlined sound full of rythmical wit and
vocal lyricism, refers, though in a rather comical way, to the
repetitive music of John Adams and Philip Glass.
Surtitles: Dutch.
