
The Bulgarian tenor Vesselin Ivanov studied from 1980 to 1985 civil engineer at the University of Sofia. From '85 to '87 he studied at the opera studio of the National Opera in Sofia. From '87 to '89 he was a choir member attached to this opera. He made tours with the choir to France and Spain and performed at the Bregenz Festival ('89) and in the arena of Nîmes ('88). Meanwhile he also sang smaller solo roles. In 1989 he started to sing at the opera of Biel (Switzerland) for two years and since 1990 he has been a choir member associated with Flanders Opera. As a soloist Vesselin Ivanov was already heard as First Huntsman/King Priam, Haushofmeister/Der Rosenkavalier, Premier Philistin/Samson et Dalila, Parpignol/La Bohème, The Fourth Jew/ Salome, Tsjaplitski and Major Domo/Pikovaya Dama and Il Carabinieri/La Strada. In the 2008-2009 season he sang the role of drunken Cossack/Mazeppa in the 2009-2010 season.
