The mezzo-soprano Carole Wilson’s recent engagements include Annina/Der Rosenkavalier conducted by Sir Simon Rattle (at De Nederlandse Opera), Dritte Magd/Elektra and Clotilde/Norma (both for Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie), Mrs. Sedley/Peter Grimes (for De Vlaamse Opera) in addition to Preziosilla/La forza del destino (for Opera Holland Park) are testimony to the fact that Carole Wilson is without doubt one of Britain’s most popular and successful operatic artists.
She makes a welcome return to Opera North in the roles of Snail and Pigeon in their revival of Jonathan Dove’s Pinicchio next year, followed by Dame Marthe/Faust for The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. In addition she will appear as Aksinya in Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for Teatro Real Madrid - a role with which she made her 2007 debut at Teatro alla Scala and her Opéra national de Paris debut in 2008. Her many concert-appearances include the roles of Hostess and Abbess in Prokofiev's Fiery Angel in 2010. She sings for the first time at Flanders Opera.
