Van 25 tot 27 augustus was de Vlaamse Opera te gast op het Edinburgh International Festival. Op zeer korte tijd werd de volledige productie, inclusief koor en orkest, volledig verhuisd naar het Schotse stadje. Na slechts één repetitie volgden meteen twee voorstellingen van Semiramide voor het grote publiek, die enthousiast onthaald werden.

Onder andere viceminister-president van de Vlaamse regering Geert Bourgeois en de Engelse cultuurminister waren te gast op de première.

“Meestal zijn het kleinere projecten die reizen, maar Semiramide is werkelijk een megaproductie.” - Aviel Cahn in De Standaard, 25/8.
