Ann De Prest

Biography

Ann De Prest graduated as Master in Music and Singing at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels and followed postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music. She currently studies with Loh Siew-Tuan. She followed masterclasses with a.o. Gabriel Garrido, Bartold Kuyken, Vera Rozsa, Susanna Eken, Sarah Walker, Helmut Deutsch and Graham Johnson. She had the pleasure to work with directors such as Ronny Lauwers, François DeCarpentries, Eric De Volder and Dagmar Pischel.
Ann was member of the Opera Studio of the Belgian National Opera, La Monnaie/De Munt for whom she has sung the Spirit (Dido & Aeneas/H. Purcell), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro/W.A. Mozart) and Despina (Cosi fan Tutte/W.A. Mozart), touring throughout France and Belgium.
Concerts engagements have included J.S. Bach's Kaffeekantate staged by Ronny Lauwers, G.F. Haendel's Messiah, In Exitu Israel by C. De Mondonville, Covered with music by N. Huber with the Spectra Ensemble, Lieder by L. Van Hove with the Ebony Quartet, Glossolalie by D. Schnebel with KaG. She sang in the contemporary music-theatre production Zwarte vogels in de bomen staged by Eric De Volder and music by Dick van der Harst, with the companies Het muziek Lod and Toneelgroep Ceremonia, touring throughout Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland. A cd of this production is recently released. Ann De Prest teaches singing, vocal training and dramatic art at the academies of music in Gent, Gentbrugge and Geraardsbergen.
