January 2013 saw the second ‘24-hour stage’: more than 100 shows of various types were performed on 25 stages. From the slow-paced coffee in the corridors at the opera to start with, through intimate theatre in small halls, to dance music in the early hours: more than 2000 people mapped out a personal circuit and swarmed from one location to another. Antwerp more than ever assured its place on the map as the performing arts city of Flanders.
It will be the same again the third time round. For 24 hours, you can see the best of what the Antwerp performing arts have to offer, for almost nothing. Make a note in your diary. You can catch up on the sleep another time.
