La Bayadère: The Kingdom of the Shades
Cynthia Harvey, one of the greatest ballerinas of her generation, is coming to Flanders to stage her version of Petipa’s La Bayadère: The Kingdom of the Shades. It is one of the finest and most demanding ballets for female dancers.

The male dancers in the company will go to the extremes of their ability in Nicolo Fonte’s Made Man. Its premiere was in 2010 and is now returning to the stage. Made Man is a powerful and moving look at male dance. Fonte writes dynamic choreographies that stick in the memory and provide mental nourishment.

The programme closes with Alexander Ekman’s Tyll, which is a premiere for the Royal Ballet of Flanders. Ekman is one of the choreographers most in demand on today’s international dance scene. He is currently the full-time guest choreographer at the Nederlands Dans Theater. In Tyll he sketches an outline of dance history. At its premiere in 2007 this work for the full company took the Swedish audience by storm.
