Biography

Filippo Adami was born in Fiesole (Florence) in 1980. He graduated at the Conservatorio “Luigi Cherubini” in Florence and he took part in various productions of the Piccolo Teatro Comunale in Florence, including Tutino’s Pinocchio, Offenbach’s Il finanziere e il ciabattino, Salieri’s Piccola arlecchinata and Milhaud’s Trois opéras minutes. After debuting at the Teatro della Pergola in Florence in Gianni Schicchi (alongside Rolando Panerai), he attended the “Accademia Rossiniana” in Pesaro under the guidance of Alberto Zedda, making his ROF debut in Pesaro as Cavalier Belfiore (Il viaggio a Reims). As a specialist Rossinian tenor, he performed as Dorvil in La scala di seta, as Conte d’Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia (tour with Teatro Regio di Torino and with Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova), as Osiride in Mosè in Egitto (Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and at the Festival Rossini in Wildbad), as Cavalier Belfiore in Il viaggio a Reims (Florence and ROF in Pesaro) and as Don Narciso in Il turco in Italia (ROF in Pesaro). Besides Rossini, he performed in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea and Sartorio’s L’Orfeo (Festival Mozart in La Coruña, conducted by Alberto Zedda), Scarlatti’s Il giardino delle rose (Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, conducted by Alan Curtis), Händel’s Fernando and Rodelinda (Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao and Barbican Center in London, conducted by Alan Curtis), Rousseau’s Le devin du village (Festival Pergolesi in Jesi), Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne (Teatro Comunale di Bologna), Don Giovanni (Carrara), La finta semplice (Teatro la Fenice in Venice), Il re pastore (Festival Mozart in La Coruña), Galuppi’s L’Olimpiade (Teatro la Fenice in Venice, conducted by Andrea Marcon). His repertoire also includes Spontini’s Li finti filosofi (Festival Pergolesi di Jesi), Coccia’s Arrighetto (ROF in Pesaro), Meyerbeer’s Semiramide (Festival Rossini in Wildbad; under the baton of Richard Bonynge), Mendelssohn’s Die beiden Pädagogen (Carl; Perugia), Falstaff (Fenton; Busseto) and Busoni’s Arlecchino (Teatro Rossini di Lugo, Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Wexford Festival Opera). Recently he had a remarkable success performing as Conte d’Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, as Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi at the Mannheim National Theater, as Rodrigo in Rossini’s Otello at the Wildbad Festival. He also performed Don Gregorio at the Teatro Massimo “V. Bellini” in Catania, Le virtù de stral d’amore at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, La gazza ladra at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia, Carmina Burana at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Il Signor Bruschino (Florville) and La sposa di Messina (Don Emanuele) at the Festival Rossini in Wildbad, Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno at the Auditorium San Paolo in Macerata.

He opened 2009/10 performing Le convenienze e inconvenienze teatrali at the Teatro alla Scala and in tour in Aalborg and Tancredi in Tourcoing and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Novaya Opera in Moscow. Upcoming productions are Il turco in Italia at the Hamburgische Staatsoper and Il diluvio universale in San Gallen.
