Biography

Cieszynska Zofia, born in Den Haag, Netherlands, had her first experience with the production company Muziektheater Transparant of her first solo in The Fairy Queen of H. Purcell. In 2005 she took second prize at the prestigious national competition for music and words, Axion Classics. That same year she started her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. Zofia took part in several masterclasses, including with John Norris, Carol Yahr, Vallerie Guillorit, Ingrid Voermans, Rosemary Joshua and Muriel Corradini.

As a choir member she had numerous large stages experiences. She took part in the Beethoven Happening with the Choir Academy, led by Philip Herreweghe, and since 2008 she belongs to the extra choir of Flanders Opera. As a soloist, she played 2nd Harlot in a staged version of Solomon (Händel) led by Andrew Wise in the Royal Conservatory, and in 2009 she was seen as Shadow Sister of the European premiere of Little Women by Mark Adamo, led by J. David Jackson during the Intermezzo Festival in Bruges. This season Zofia is also to be seen on stages in Flanders with the world premiere of Axelle Kennes, Orphelie in the Upstairs Room, an opera for children.
